Humans are the most advanced animals....

hmmm.. after going through so many years (4 years+) of biology/life science... i've never ceased to wonder about this question...

" why do humans always think that mammals are more advanced than fishes and invertebrates..?"

and

"why are humans considered the most advance animal?"

haha.. of course.. God's word tells us so lah.. but i was just wondering how people who do not believe in the Bible or God come to this conclusion....

ego? perhaps...

well well.. i was just trying to find out about a certain von Baer's Law from the internet.. (coz lousy lecturer never got the point across .. to me at least... ).. and lo and behold.. i found out that mR von Baer has a sense of humour indeed... (who says scientists are boring!)

here's something that i got from the website... (http://7e.devbio.com/article.php?ch=1&id=1)

Von Baer was not adverse to using his lively wit and sense of irony to ridicule transformationists. He wrote (1828) a paragraph of his book as if a bird were a transformationist biologist writing such a volume. This bird, he said, would note that adult humans lack beaks, just as embryonic birds do. Their adult extremities are very much alike (having not differentiated into wings and legs) just as is the case of embryonic birds. Furthermore, we mammals show only the most primitive form of feather production. Therefore (this avian scientist would conclude), birds are far more advanced than humans, and the adult human resembles the embryonic bird.
